The Marketing & Communications Division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust provides internship opportunities throughout the year for qualified candidates who are in a related program of study and have a strong interest in business administration, marketing, public relations, advertising and publications. The selected intern will participate in the marketing and promotion of shows presented by The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, in the writing and production of Trust publications, and various projects to advance the mission of the Trust. Assignments may include development and distribution of press releases, copywriting assignments, archival and administrative assistance, and participation in the planning and execution of promotional projects. Every effort is made to provide the intern with projects that may serve as portfolio samples.

Intern candidates should possess excellent writing and communication skills and experience with computer programs is a plus such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as social media.

Specific Public Relations responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as additional press contact for Pittsburgh Cultural Trust programming (placing/fielding calls, scheduling interviews, providing detailed and accurate information for inquiring media)
  • Local, regional and national outlet research and media list maintenance
  • Provide public relations support for all Pittsburgh Cultural Trust programming, with the primary goal of increasing accurate media attention for the Trust and various projects
  • Social media development for Public Relations efforts
  • Maintain local listings for Trust visual arts programming
  • Drafting and posting relevant press releases
  • Assist with audience development and media attendance at openings and events
  • Implementing and maintaining internal public relations support
    • Tracking earned media
    • Weekly reporting on press coverage
