STUNNED IS THE STANDARD:
LIBERTY MAGIC ANNOUNCES 2025 SHOWS
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust brings the world’s best magicians to Pittsburgh
Lead Sponsor: Dollar Bank
PITTSBURGH, PA, March 18, 2025: You could probably use a little magic in your life. We all could. Luckily, there’s one place in Pittsburgh where you can consistently find it: Liberty Magic in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.
The world’s best magicians will appear (out of thin air, of course) at Liberty Magic combining illusion, comedy, theater, and music in stunningly creative original ways—building a live, in-person performance utterly unlike anything else.
Every month features a new performance from a reigning master of the craft, from sleight-of-hand to prestidigitation, card tricks, mentalism, and illusions. Performances are 70-90 minutes, giving magicians the time and space to build a show that takes on greater risks, with larger concepts and ideas. Some are funny and irreverent, others are measured and poetic, and some are shocking and strange. All are unique and unlike anything else you’ve ever seen.
“You will absolutely see something you’ve never seen before at Liberty Magic,” says Brooke Horejsi, Chief Programming & Engagement Officer for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. “Even if you’ve been to Liberty Magic before, you’ll still see something new; returning favorites like Lucy Darling and Lee Terbosic always keep their shows fresh and unpredictable.”
Liberty Magic is located on the same block Downtown where Harry Houdini first mesmerized Pittsburgh in 1916. The venue is intimate enough to showcase even the most subtle close-up magic, with less than 70 seats.
This season’s shows are supported by lead sponsor, Dollar Bank. Learn more at TrustArts.org/Magic.
COMING UP AT LIBERTY MAGIC:
June 5-22, 2025: Lucy Darling in “Indulgence” | To do the impossible is one thing. To do it with exceptional wit, charm, and incredible hair (a flaming red retro bouffant) is another entirely. Lucy’s show combines improvisational comedy, witty writing, and astounding feats of magic. She has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley’s Believe It or Not. She is the winner of the 2019 prestigious Allan Slaight Award and was voted Stage Magician of the Year at the Magic Castle two years in a row.
July 10-Aug. 9, 2025: Rob Zabrecky in “The Zabrecky Hour” | Magic, comedy, performance art, storytelling – what doesn’t Zabrecky do? He’ll bring his sense of the uncanny, the unexpected, and the unexplainable to Liberty Magic, in ways that will have you questioning your very perception of reality. The vibe is somewhere between David Lynch and a lost 1950s sci-fi/horror B-movie, featuring a character who seems stuck in a world that is not his own. After an appearance on Penn & Teller’s Fool Us, Penn Jillette remarked, “We were trying to think if there’s ever been a mentalist doing a mentalist act that was sincerely funny and sincerely good. You may be the first ever.”
July 10-Aug. 9: Lee Terbosic in “In Plain Sleight” | A winning combination of comedy, magic and mind reading from the sleight-of-hand master Lee Terbosic, who has an uncanny ability to pull thoughts out of spectators’ heads. Lee masterfully manipulates perception, reminding the audience that what the eyes see, the ears hear, and the mind believes can often be worlds apart. With each illusion and mind-reading moment, he guides their focus exactly where he wants it, leading them through a world where nothing is quite as it seems. Pittsburgh’s own Lee Terbosic is a mesmerizing force in the world of entertainment, a maestro of magic, and has appeared on America’s Got Talent (NBC), Four Weddings (TLC), Now You See It (BBC), Houdini’s Last Secrets (Discovery Science Channel), and History’s Greatest Mysteries (History Channel).
Aug. 15-16, Oct. 3, Oct. 24-25, Nov. 1: Michael Misko in “I Laugh in the Face of Magic” | Another world-class homegrown talent, Michael Misko, has taken his magical mastery to stages all over the country, from universities to cruise ships to Fortune 500 companies. He’s known for his dry-roasted sense of humor and slippery sleight-of-hand technique, with a stage presence that recalls the oddball charm of Zach Galifianakis.
Sept. 19-20, 26-27, Oct. 10-11, Oct. 17-18: Mr. Messado in “Ringistry” | Back by popular demand, one of Liberty Magic’s most beloved performers returns with his reliably fantastic “Ringistry.” It’s the artistry of the linking rings, standard of magic performed in a way you’ve never seen before, and a modern interpretation of an ancient craft that highlights the cool in the classics, the suave in sleight-of-hand and the inspiration inherent in witnessing the impossible.
April 6-June 22: Mr. Messado in “School of Magic” | Every other week this spring, learn magic from a master: Liberty Magic favorite Mr. Messado.
